The Department of Non-invasive Cardiology is a new unit created by the decision of the Senate of the Medical University of Lodz of 30 May 2017. The Department is allocated in the Department of Internal Diseases and Cardiology of the Military and Medical Faculty.

The scientific and clinical interests of the Department’s team focus on the problems of contemporary cardiology as well as on modern diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases.

The Department of Non-invasive Cardiology is a scientific and didactic unit. The team of the Department conducts clinical classes in the field of cardiology for 6th year students of Military and Medical Faculty and classes for students of 4-year MD and 6-year MD program studies in English.

Professor Malgorzata Lelonek manages scientific research projects which focus on the areaof heart failure, atrial fibrillation, lipid disorders and heart defects. The results of studies are published in journals with high impact factor.

PhD studies are performed in the Department. Moreover, the Department runs Students’ Science Club (SSC). Students who participate in SSC and those pursuing the Individual Study Program under the supervision of Professor Malgorzata Lelonek have received numerous awards and prizes in the
Cardiologic Session at SSC Conferences. We also offer cooperation in joint multicentre projects as well as posts for individual investigators within the framework of PhD studies or external grants.

The Head of the Department is a clinical cardiologist with many years of experience in the field of cardiology of all cardiac conditions, and she reviously worked in Seweryn Sterling Hospital in Lodz, the cardiac hospital in Lodz.

The localisation of the Department in the multi-profile University Clinical Hospital Military Memorial Medical Academy – Central Veterans’ Hospital in Lodz with access to a highly specialized diagnostic base enables fast and highly professional diagnostics and the treatment of patients with full spectrum of cardiovascular diseases.

The Department of Non-invasive Cardiology cooperates with the Cardiology Out-patient Clinic of University Clinical Hospital Military Memorial Medical Academy – Central Veterans’ Hospital, located at 1/3 Sterlinga street. After hospitalization, patients are referred to this clinic as a part of comprehensive cardiological care.

The conference devoted to the problems of heart failure is organized annually in accordance with main interests of Professor Malgorzata Lelonek and her activities in the Management Board of the Heart Failure Section of the Polish Cardiac Society. The conference is intended for cardiologists, internists as well as family medicine physicians and students. The Head of the Department has
been cooperating for many years with cardiology centres with the highest reference levels, both in the country and abroad. Moreover, she is the Editor of the “Heart Failure” section in Folia Cardiologica journal.

Scientific results of the Department of Noninvasive Cardiology in Medical University of Lodz:

2017 – the 8th place in the overall ranking of the Medical University of Lodz and 2nd position in the Military and Medical Faculty with the number of points

2017-2018 the 13th place in the overall ranking of the Medical University of Lodz, total points 94.14, grade 1.

2019 – the 2nd place in the overall ranking of the Medical University of Lodz, total of 440 points, grade 1.
